What You Need to Know About Data Transfers: The New SCCs and the EDPB Recommendation on Supplemental Safeguards

In early June, the European Commission published its long-awaited new set of Standard Contractual Clauses (New SCCs). This new data transfer mechanism allows for the transfers of personal data outside of the European Union and replaces the current Standard Contractual Clauses. On June 21, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) issued the final version of its Recommendations on supplemental safeguards, which is critical for the use of the New SCCs.

These two events have a significant impact on how companies can transfer personal data outside of the European Union.

During our webinar, we will provide a deep dive into the New SCCs and the final EDPB recommendation and provide practical tips and insights on how to address data transfer restrictions moving forward.

Items that will be covered include:

  • What are the New SCCs and how to use them
  • What are the main changes and the key issues to pay attention to
  • The key takeaways from the EDPB recommendation
  • Practical advice through a few use cases
  • What should you be doing now, and what to plan for in the longer term?
